Hi, I am Ravi T and I am reaching out on behalf of my friend Neetu Sharma who stays in India. She is a Single Mom and a school teacher in Uttar Pradesh, India, trying to make her ends meet. Her son Akash is currently pursuing his graduation at the University of Padua, Italy. Akash is currently pursuing his 2nd year of Master’s in Information Engineering at the University of Padua, Italy. He is a bright kid with an average of 27.75/30 in his grades and is currently undergoing training at NVIDIA. He plans to complete his graduation by mid-2024 and pursue a job immediately after that. An unfortunate turn of fate resulted in Akash being diagnosed late into an advanced stage of Pott’s spine disease (Spinal Tuberculosis) with multiple septations along his spinal cord and a cyst with built up infection. This medical condition, especially multiple septations across a spine, is very rare in young adults and it is reported in only about 2 in every 100,000 cases of patients. This condition is not common in the Western nations leading to a late diagnosis. When left unattended for long, it could result in a permanent damage to the spine (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pott_disease). Copies of his medical reports are available here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19yBkvEVL9oYV-8yI6-faFGQMNOAqqyM4 Having endured debilitating pain during the period it was left undiagnosed, Akash is currently undergoing medical treatment from India to reduce the infection in the bones before further assessment can be made on next steps. Being located in Italy by virtue of his education and no required medical facilities within reasonable costs for a non-citizen, he is needing to travel back to India every 3 months to get his checkups done and replenish his medicines. Add to this the fact that he is unable to take up a job until he is completely cured, the tuition fees are adding up to the overall costs. We are hoping this is just a low phase in their lives. With continuous treatment, Akash can be cured permanently and be able to return to a normal life very soon. But all this treatment and checkups, trips to India, and the studies is costing beyond Neetu’s ability. At this moment Neetu is behind in arrears by about 10000 USD. A breakdown of the costs she is under currently: * Tuition fees arrears: 3512 Euros (~ 3900 USD) Current semester: 600 Euros (~670 USD) Next semester:600 Euros (~670 USD) * Medical checkups and fees: 400,000 INR (~ 4800 USD) I am hoping to help her with at least 10,000 USD and that too would barely get her head out of the water at this point. She earns less than 800 USD per month when schools are in session. She ends up sending about 600 USD for her son’s living expenses in Italy and is trying to sustain her family in India with the rest. She pulled along for quite sometime on her reserves but she’s exhausted everything now. Any help the Netizens can offer is good enough to help her see through the difficult times. Please extend your help in whichever way you feel best and please spread the word among your contacts too. May Heavens keep everyone healthy and out of trouble. update [8/16/2024]: Many thanks to all the donors till date. Neetu was able to clear 1180 Euros of the 3312 Euros of arrears with your help.
