Hi, my name is Fred Wafler and I am fundraising for John Redmond. “Even If” In 1982, I had just arrived in Huntsville, Alabama to start a new job. Until our children finished school back in Florida, I would be living by myself in a borrowed camper at Ditto Landing Campground. Little did I know then that the intelligent bearded mythical-looking, smurf-like character I spied living out of a really small sailboat at the docks there, would deeply touch my life, along with others. That guy was John Raymond Redmond, an Honorably discharged Navy Veteran. John would never ask for help, but I will, for him. Over 40 years later, John is now needing our prayers and help as he can no longer live independently. As we renewed our friendship several years ago, I found John post-heart attack; post-stroke; post-death of a wife; and post-divorce of another. That’s enough to demolish most people, but not John. I found him full of Hope and Joy derived from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and friends and a few remaining family members that surrounded him with love. Our bond of friendship has led me to try to help John as much as I can (he’s been absolutely more of an encouragement to me than I have been to him). I’m now asking you to join me in this journey and give to this wacky guy, what he would never ask for himself. After finally yielding to his disabilities, the Lord graciously answered our prayers for an opening in an Alabama Veterans Home. He could no longer live alone. He was admitted on 31 March of this year. Within a week, the wait list had gone from “2 years” to “2 days”, literally. Trust me when I tell you it was a God thing! We were on shouting ground! Then the logistics started to kick in and we realized there was still a lot to overcome. With the Lord’s help and His urging of each of you to help, we can overcome John’s immediate and longer-term needs. “Even If”, the Lord chooses not to respond thru you guys for John, he and I both will continually praise His name and not be discouraged. We have that “fourth man” walking through the fire with us. I’m trying desperately to sell John’s RV that he has lived in since 2016. I’m also trying to help balance John’s budget with Social Security being his only income. His current expenses are: RV, RV insurance, assisted living at Tut Fann Veterans Home and ongoing medical and pharmacy charges, which are not covered by the VA. These expenses are 100% related to John’s needs that include his housing and continued care. Even with these new expenses, we are rejoicing, as the Lord has provided many answered prayers. What a blessing! How can you help? I’m going to be honest, bold and direct with you. #1 Pray, pray, pray for John’s health and wellness. #2 Buy his RV so we can reduce his income drain (text me for information @ two five six five seven two zero seven three eight). #3 If you can’t buy it, please share the ad with someone who might (see links below). https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/957086012231721 https://huntsville.craigslist.org/rvs/d/arab-premium-5th-wheel-rv/7642028346.html #4. Donate any amount you feel led to give. #5. Visit him or drop him a card when you can, he loves being loved-on and acting crazy with those around him. John's Tut Fann Address - 2701 Meridian St N, Huntsville, AL 35811 - Room E117 (B) Please know every penny donated will go completely to the expenses listed above, minus any fee that might be required from this crowdfunding. Also, John, using the direction of the Lord, will desire to donate any remaining funds to help others. This is my PROMISE to you! Thank you for taking the time to read about John and this current prayer request. Always remember these words and the way that John lives it: “Every life will have its share of trouble But oh that's when you′ll find Him so close And if you fall, He will carry you 'Cause every time you need Him the most He's the shout that calls the dead to life again He′s the bread that multiplies to meet your need He′s the midnight calm in the lion's den And the shepherd who goes searching for the sheep He′s the hand that reaches out to rescue you When the waves are growing higher And He's the fourth man who′s always there beside you When you're walking through fire” Here is a YouTube video of John I made some time ago thanking all those who have demonstrated love and support for him before he moved into Tut Fann. https://youtube.com/shorts/xdDaRI2-_no
