Hey everyone! After much begging, pleading, and nagging, my best friend in the world has reluctantly allowed me to set up this Go Fund Me for her and her husband. Erika is hands down the best person I know. She is kind, generous, and completely selfless. She has made a career out of helping other people and now it's time for all of us to band together and help her. Her husband Gary has been in the hospital for well over a month now with a multitude of health problems that seem to expand by the day. He has been battling heart issues since birth and then received a Multiple Sclerosis diagnosis a few years back. He has been in and out of the hospital more times than I can count in the past year with issues and complications continuing to arise. In this most recent bout, he had tremendous amounts of fluid on him that they were having a hard time getting off. He now needs a new liver and a new set of lungs pretty much immediately. Both Hopkins and the University of MD denied him so he was airlifted to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital over the weekend to be evaluated. If they agree to do the transplant, he will be in the hospital until the organs are available. After the transplant, he has to live within 45 minutes of the hospital for at least 6 months. He will need someone to live with him 24/7 to help with his care. Their son Oliver is not allowed to live with him and can have very minimal contact due to the risk of infection. Gary's mother will be moving to PA and staying with him to help with his care. Erika will be staying here continuing to work full time and take care of their son. She will most likely be going up every weekend to visit. This is a family who asks for NOTHING. They are wonderful people who have been dealt such a terrible hand. I am setting this up as a way to try and ease just a little of their stress and worry. Medical bills, lost wages, food, travel, and housing expenses are continuing to pile up and I want Erika to have to worry about nothing other than her husband and son. I know she would appreciate and be forever grateful to anyone who would be willing to donate. Even the smallest amount counts. Thank you all!!!
