Hi, I'm studying to be a midwife in the Blue Mountains. I'm heading to Vanuatu in September, where I have made a local midwifery contact. According to UNICEF the infant mortality rate in Vanuatu is five times as high as in Australia. Vanuatu faces challenges in women's health care in part due to supply chain management issues and insufficient annual budgets for medicines and equipment. I am planning to visit the maternity unit on Espiritu Santo (an island in the north of Vanuatu) and I'm fundraising for some basic but very needed equipment, such as fetal heart rate monitors, thermometers, stethoscopes, pulse oximeters, blood pressure machines and breast pumps. Any contribution, big or small, will help. I will make sure all the equipment is delivered to the hospital. If you are able to donate equipment rather than cash, I would be happy to collect it - just get in touch. Thanks in advance
