My name is Katherine Morales I am the mother of Angelic, she was born with Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is a Chromosomal disorder that occurs in the first few weeks of conception. Depending on the type and case, it can give many complications and often short life expectancy. Angelic was born on October 20th,2002. She was born at 25 weeks and weighed in at 1 pound. When she was born they gave her 6 months to live and expected her to be in a vegetation state. They said she would never talk, walk or have a normal chance at life. She has the most purest soul I had ever known. My ray of Sunshine. This young lady has endured over 40+ surgeries and has a heart of a lion. Angelic will celebrate her 21st birthday this year every day with her is a blessing. For the last 10 years, she has battled osteomyelitis in her left leg, no matter how many times they have operated or put her on therapeutic antibiotics to help, her condition just kept reoccurring. My daughter has suffered for years and on July 14th, 2024 had to have her left leg amputated. As a parent you try your very best to protect and make your children happy, the one thing I couldn't do is protect her from this condition. My heart is so broken it's hard to find the words to even speak about it. I am desperate all this young lady has ever wanted was the possibility to be normal. Due to her being autoimmune and battling this condition her childhood teenage years were robbed. She will never be able to drive a regular car, wiggle her toes feel the grass under her feet or have a daddy-daughter dance. Angelic is a student at southern university where she had hopes of becoming a veterinarian. She is determined she has maintained a 3.98 GPA these last 2 semesters. Your generous contributions will be used to purchase supplies insurance doesn't cover, help replace the entrance of her bedroom and bathroom, which she currently can't access with her wheelchair or walker, and help with transporting her to and from appointments and purchase a hand-gliding bike, something she has always wanted to do.
