NEWS The lift is installed and works great. I am exploring different options for electric assist, so if feels right to adjust my overall goal. Thank all so much UPDATE :) We got an almost new lift donated. It's only a few years old and barely used, I still need to buy so extra pieces to lengthen the track, as our staircase is longer. I feel so blessed that all of you have supported and donated so far. I have dropped the goal because all I need now is the electric-assist attachment. Hi, I am Steve I am 41 I have lived with Cerebral Palsy Since Birth. I use a manual wheelchair and live independently, Sort of, let me explain. As I get older, moving around gets harder, and I am lucky to not have suffered any shoulder issues yet. If were to switch to a fully electric wheelchair I would lose muscle strength, range of motion, and mobility and my lifestyle would completely change. The Solution is an Electric Assist that attaches to the front of my wheelchair essentially making my manual wheelchair into an electric scooter. Here is the problem: the Batec Mobility Mini is not covered by the ministry and I do not have extended benefits (which only cover a portion). I also practice the Martial Art of Aikido a low-impact martial art that focuses on mobility and range of motion while preventing injury. The dojo I am a member of has stairs and requires an electric stair lift. The one we currently have is used and has broken down a few times it would be wonderful to purchase a new one, with a warranty. My dojo has welcomed me and moved mountains so I am able to train my mind and both to the best of my ability for the last 9 years. This is not a story of tragedy or immense hardship; this is simply a guy named Steve swallowing his pride and asking for help to purchase these two life-changing pieces of equipment Thank You, Steve
