UPDATE : My Dad was discharged from Penn last week He is currently at allied rehab hospital making progress everyday . We are hoping to have him home in a few weeks !! Thanks again for all of the support On 6/19/23, my dad Ed Ferraro, was rushed by ambulance to Regional Hospital of Scranton. Our world as we knew it was flipped upside down . On June 20 after multiple tests, they determined he suffered a massive heart attack , was in congestive heart failure, renal and liver failure . His heart was functioning at 10%.He was intubated, placed on a Ventilator and kept in the ICU. He was life flighted to University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia on 6/20/23 in very critical condition . He underwent multiple procedures before finally having a triple bypass surgery on 6/29 . Thankfully, he made it through surgery but continues to have issues . We are now dealing with post op complications and difficulty vent weaning . He had a tracheostomy done yesterday with hopes of getting him off the ventilator sooner .He has a very long road ahead of him. Anyone who knows my dad knows the type of man he is . My dad was working full time at 72 years old and very independent. He is simply the best human I know . He would do anything for any one . Now he is in need of some help . Please do not feel obligated to donate anything , even a share would be amazing . Any money raised would go towards his medical expenses , loss of wages for my dad , long term care & travel expenses . Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for the ongoing prayers . He is not out of the woods yet, but everyday he is making small steps forward . He has the best team at Penn and we are so grateful he has made it this far. UPDATE 7/10/23 Ed is making slow progress . He remains in the ICU at Penn. He now has a tracheostomy, still on the ventilator but every day he is weaning down slightly . Yesterday, he was able to do 3 hours on Trach collar only. We do not have much of a timeline as of when he will be transferred to step down unit -- once he is off vent he must stay in icu for 48 hours to make sure he's ok. He still has a long road ahead but he's so strong and is proving that to us daily . THANKS AGAIN FOR ALL THE SUPPORT .
