Here's our story... My son Dylan is now 13 months old and back in July (10 months old) they heard a heart murmur. We were told oh I'm sure he will be fine and grow out of it. After waiting months to be seen in Modesto by a pediatric cardiologist we decided to make an appointment at Stanford to be seen quicker. On October 12th (my husband and my 2nd anniversary) mom and I took my son to Stanford for an ekg and echocardiogram. After his test we met with the cardiologist. Where he told me the kind of hole ( ASD atrial septal defect) they found in Dylan's heart had to be surgically repaired. It is moderate to large size so the have to do open heart surgery and do a bypass and this needs to be done sooner than later cuz his heart is already enlarged. I couldn't help from holding my tears back when I heard this. No mother wants to hear that there sweet baby needs surgery. This is when the dr told me I know you understand what I'm saying and what needs to be done because I see the tears running down your face. Since then we have met with the surgeon where he has explained the what's wrong and the procedure in depth. We are scheduled for surgery the beginning of November. My husband is off on disability because he is stressed and emotionally overwhelmed by this like we all are and I am a stay at home mom. Needless to say our income is less now that he is on disability to be with our son and help him recover after surgery. This puts a financial burden on us with the hotel stays, commuting, and medical bills already adding up. We estimate with medical, lodging, food and gas $10,000 would hopefully cover what we need to put out unless there is some hidden fees that will pop up on us. Please help my family out in this time of need and pray everything goes well for my smart, funny, lovable, busy, beautiful baby boy!
