Dustin is a good kid with so much potential!!! However, its recently been diagnosed that he needs hearing aids in both ears and they're 100% EXCLUDED by my insurance policy. During the summer vacation of 2015 Dustin accidentally put a hole in his right eardrum. While being treated for this injury it was discovered that he has a hearing loss in his left ear of about 15%. The right ear has since been surgically repaired but remains with a hearing loss of about 50%.We have consulted with two different audiologists and both agree that in order to carry on a social conversation you only have to hear about 40% of what's being said because its very predictable. BUT, when you're trying to learn new ideas, concepts and words you have to be able to hear at least 90% of what's being said. Dustin's ears have probably always had a moderate amount of hearing loss, it just wasn't discovered until the accident. He hasn't let that slow him down though. He's always maintained good grades and is progressing towords High Scool & College diplomas. He just had to work a little harder at it than everybody else. Now, the hearing loss is very noticeable and makes learning much more difficult. Dustin is a fine young man who has attended church all of his life and is in the Royal Ranger's outpost of Deerpoint Lake Assembly of God as well as a first degree black belt in Yoshukai Karate. Please help me buy him a pair of medically necessary but insurance denied, hearing aids so he will not have to struggle to hear and learn.Thank you in advance for your generosity.Deanna Dickson (Mom)
