Hello, My name is Lynne. I live in a somewhat remote area near Fairbanks, AK. This summer was to be one of fun and sharing Alaska through my business. However, this hasn’t been the case. I’m asking for help so that my roommate and I can have some reliable transportation. This is important because we are caring for 65 sled dogs this summer. We had hoped to share them with people who would like to learn more about mushing, Alaska’s official sport & help socialize our dogs. I am also in the process of going through a lot of medical tests and need to make it to my appointments and physical therapy for a recently broken humerus. The reason we have this problem with the transportation is that our driveway became a sink hole of cement like mud. We have water hauled to our home via a water truck which could not get down the driveway for 50 days. Our landlord refused to help with the situation which is the reason our vehicles were damaged and need repair. This is where we need help. We had my vehicle taken in for brake replacements, however, Midas found much more needed to be done. The final cost of the repairs is $2310.00. They will not release the vehicle until it is paid in full. My roommate’s truck is about to give out and we were planning on having my truck going while hers was fixed. This is how bad the driveway was: Luckily we had a neighbor who was kind enough to help get my roommate’s truck out of this cement like mud. The picture at the beginning of this request is my truck after it had been wenched out of the mud by my insurance company. The damage to my vehicle is underneath. Since we have been hauling water for 50 days now and unable to do the kennel tours to raise money to keep us going until business picks up this fall, money has become a serious issue in terms of paying our bills and especially getting my truck back from Midas. The water truck was finally able to get to us! Yippee! Until we turned the water pump back on only to find that it isn’t working. Again, the landlord has been less than helpful, but finally said he would send someone to look at it August 1. We may need to pay for someone to fix it if this person is unable to do it. That is why the request includes a little bit extra above car repair cost. Without transportation we can’t get to work. We would appreciate any help people are willing to share so we can get back on our feet and move forward. Thank you in advance.
