Meet Michael, our extraordinary 20-year-old son. Diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in June 2024 at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital in Nashville, Michael has faced unimaginable challenges with incredible strength and determination. Despite enduring multiple rounds of aggressive chemotherapy, high-dose radiation, lung surgery, and a complex bone replacement in his left arm, he has continued to excel academically at the University of Alabama, pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering. Remarkably, he has maintained a high enough GPA to fulfill the requirements of his full-tuition scholarship and honors college requirements. Michael has also completed two internships while being treated—one at Nucor in Decatur after his freshman year (he calls his co-workers at Nucor family now) and another at Berube Leonard LLC - Structural Engineers following his sophomore year—while managing demanding medical protocols. His resilience and drive to overcome this illness inspire us every day. Though Michael has made significant progress, he needs additional medical assistance to fully overcome this battle and achieve remission. Effective treatments are available but not yet FDA-approved. Michael has decided to forego his fall semester at Tuscaloosa to seek care at a specialized facility in Mexico, renowned for its expertise in treating this rare bone cancer. However, the projected $50,000 for treatments and travel expenses presents a significant challenge for us. This is a crucial opportunity for Michael, and we urgently need your help to make it possible. I’m Alan Prouty, a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and small business owner from Elberta, Alabama. Our family is reaching out for your support during this critical time. Your generosity will help cover these essential costs and bring hope to Michael’s fight against cancer. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for any support you can offer. We deeply appreciate your prayers and encouragement. With heartfelt gratitude, Alan, Helen, and our five children
