To all the women out there, have you ever been scared of taking an Uber? Well, I certainly have. Every time I take an Uber, I can’t stop thinking about the countless stories of kidnap and rape I hear online I always share the car’s license plate, location, and route with a trusted friend. I also keep my distance from the driver, hold my phone tightly, shake my legs in fear, and I’m never relieved until I arrive home. In 2024, women should not fear getting in an Uber alone. Yet, In the most recent report, there were over 3,000 reports of the five most severe categories of sexual assault in Uber alone. Furthermore, 99% of perpetrators of sexual assault and 80% of persons arrested for violent crimes are men. These statistics are absolutely shocking, there must be a solution, right? ProtectHer is a transportation service that aims to prioritize the safe travel of women. We conduct in-depth background verifications on drivers and track the location and speed of each ride live. A live microphone and an emergency button are also installed in each car in case anything happens. Most importantly, we pair women riders with women drivers, ensuring that our customers can feel at ease during every ride. By donating money to this LFEBridge, you will contribute to the improved safety of car rides of many women through our company. One portion of the money that you donate to this LFEBridge will be spent on software development. With funding of $10,000, we will be ready to launch our ride-sharing app. Currently, our services do not offer live booking, meaning customers have to book rides in advance. With our new app, we will be able to deliver swift, on-demand service. While still being able to book rides in advance, app users will also be able to request a ride instantly. By introducing a seamless and intuitive experience, we ensure convenience and bolster the sense of safety, as our riders know a safe ride is just a tap away. The other portion of the money that you donate to this LFEBridge will be spent on marketing. Currently, our services are only provided within North Carolina. Our current marketing includes online advertising, local community engagement, and the implementation of a referral program. We have also contacted local universities, hotels, mom groups, etc. We have an Instagram account that has approximately 1300 followers and we reached out to female Uber drivers and customers through emails, business cards, and flyers. Although, we have plans to scale our operations to Palm Beach Country and beyond. In order to do so, more rigorous marketing strategies need to be implemented to expand our user base and enhance brand visibility. These include regional partnerships, offline advertising, influencer marketing, and customer retention programs. Starting with car rides, we believe every woman deserves the right to feel secure and confident when traveling. However, we plan to expand ProtectHer into a movement dedicated to making the world safer for women by raising awareness about women’s safety. Start by protecting women, one ride at a time.
