On Thursday, July 6th, 2024, our son and friend Devon Keister (18) was in a traumatic motorcycle accident in Elmira, NY. Devon suffered a small brain bleed, liver laceration, multiple facial fractures, several teeth knocked out, deep lacerations to his chin and upper lip that required stitches, and a broken right collarbone, humerus, radius, and ulna. Devon was sedated and intubated and remained in the ICU for a week before being moved to a floor. Devon is stable now, however, every day is unknown. He has a very long road to recovery in front of him. Devon, who recently turned 18, was working towards his dreams in life. A hardworking man, Devon worked full-time as a general manager at a local fast-food chain through high school and into college. While working full-time, Devon was working towards his degree in Mechanical Technology at SUNY Corning Community College (CCC). As a member of CCC's EOP program, Devon is known among his peers and classmates to be easy to talk to, one to give a good argument (and laugh), and one to do anything for his friends and family. At the beginning of summer, Devon earned the opportunity to work at a local manufacturer, where he could finally apply his learning and learn more about the field he was passionate about. The accident has put everything on hold for Devon - his education, his job, his goals - and his family needs more help than ever to provide Devon with the best care possible so he can continue working towards his goals and dreams. To alleviate medical costs associated with Devon's care, including the post-discharge Traumatic Brain Rehabilitation Program, please consider donating to Devon's LFEBridge. All funds will go directly to Devon's family. Friends of Devon is a collective group name that includes family members and friends that support Devon and his recovery. We thank you for your generous donation and hope you'll continue to follow Devon on his road to recovery.
