Hi Everyone, I am an art teacher in Stamford Connecticut Public Schools, and I am reaching out to you in the hopes of raising money for my student, E so that he can get the dental surgery he desperately needs. Unfortunately, E, having migrated two years from Guatemala alone at 16, cannot afford the surgery and we cannot find dentists who will do the procedure pro-bono. According to his school social worker, the details of his life in Guatemala are unclear, but we know he was experiencing poverty and neglect. Despite facing numerous obstacles and very little family support, E is learning English, trying to finish high school, and building a life for himself here in Connecticut. Understandably, his dental condition has become a significant barrier to his success. One of the things E loves to do is run, it helps him deal with stress, and now because his dental condition causes him constant pain and discomfort, he’s not able to enjoy his simple outlet. As you can imagine, chronic tooth pain can debilitate anyone, and then become an even more critical health issue for someone who has limited resources and no access to dental care. Even, those of us who are lucky enough to have health care know that even with it, dental and oral surgery can be prohibitively expensive. E would never ask for help and this dental procedure is unaffordable and desperately needed. I am hoping for your support so I can show E that people around him care. I know that given the resources and opportunity, this kind and gentle young man would not hesitate to do the same. Truly, no amount of money is too little. Thank you so much! Karen
