My name is Kate. One of the Paramedics here in Hennepin County. I’m trying to raise funds for my friend Jess. Jess is a hardworking compassionate healthcare provider. She has her nursing degree from MCTC. She is currently doing at home care for an elderly woman. This job unfortunately does not provide good healthcare benefits. She is also starting school this fall to become a firefighter. In hopes of furthering her career in healthcare and emergency services Jess was out to dinner about a month ago when she started to not feel well all of a sudden. She got up from the table in attempts to walk to the bathroom. After taking a few steps she went unconscious collapsing to the floor. Her chin unfortunately was what caught the impact of her fall on the concrete flooring. She split the under side of her chin all the way to the bone. Suffered a basilar skull fracture due to the significance of the impact. This force was strong enough to cause her body to go into a seizure. She was transported to the hospital by an ambulance. An emergent head CT, luckily did not show any bleeds in her brain. However, she did sadly break almost all of her teeth in the back of her mouth! I’m talking 30,000 worth of damage! Currently, on a soft diet due to the pain and inability to chew hard substances. Chunks of her teeth have literally been falling out every couple of days. She has an infection in one of the roots. Medical insurance won’t cover the costs of dental implants because it’s a dental issue. That makes zero sense! This was caused by a medical episode. She really could use any help you can offer. We never realize how much we take for granted until we don’t have things, anything helps.
