Hello! We are the family of Debra Fluellen, and we’re truly grateful that you have taken the time to read her story. At 62 years old, Debra has diligently worked for 39 years as a CT Tech at several Atlanta hospitals where she is known for her smile and infectious laughter. She has always been the most giving and supportive mother, sister, aunt, and friend to those around her and we count it an honor to pour back into her now. On June 19th, Debra was scheduled for a Discectomy Spine Cervical Anterior Approach with Corpectomy Infusion. Immediately following the surgery, doctors noticed that she was not actively responding as she should. Following an emergency MRI, it was determined that she suffered an acute spinal cord infarction which caused paralysis. She was admitted to the ICU where the hospital course was complicated by acute pulmonary insufficiency and infection. After an 11-day stay, she was admitted and transferred to a rehab center with an immediate diagnosis of Quadriplegia. As we continue with her rehab, it is uncertain on the length and complexity of her recovery which is why we are raising funds to assist with monthly bills/expenses. All funds will go directly to Debra and her family. Any amount you can contribute is appreciated and if you are unable to contribute money at this time, a share of her story with family and friends would mean everything to us. God bless you!
