Hi, my name is Anna and my mom has been undergoing an extreme cancer treatment plan and recovery. A little background on the cancer surgery, she has stage 3/4 cancer in her mouth and jawbone. This resulted in a very long 11 hour aggressive surgery in February followed by a stay in the hospital of over a week. Not only did the surgery on the mouth take place, but the surgeon also had to remove her tibia bone from her left leg to do a reconstruction of the jawbone and use the leg tissue to create a skin graft for the reconstruction. And if that wasn't enough, they also had to remove the lymph nodes in her neck leaving a big area of scar tissue and swelling. This process has left her disfigured on the left side of her face and neck. She is in constant daily pain and has to manage that while always trying to be positive for those around her. My mom has really been through it! The mounting medical bills have been piling up monthly and yet she has to go to constant ongoing medical appointments and rehabilitation and treatments almost daily. She gets all her medical appointments in Chico, the next town over from the one we live in, about 30 miles away. Now our car is having issues, we need new brakes and a new battery to keep it going. We are falling behind on our household bills and they are becoming a few months behind. She just found out that for some reason, her medical insurance was canceled so now she is having to deal with finding coverage with an active cancer diagnosis. Things are just very stressful and with my mom trying to heal from the cancer all this added financial stress does not help her in her recovery. If there is any way you can help her financially, it would be amazing. My mom has always been someone who has gone out of her way to help others whenever anyone has needed anything. She is always there to encourage and support people and lift them up when they have needed it. Now my mom really needs some help herself, she is fighting this cancer battle and trying to keep herself afloat. If you are not able to help financially, please share in your social media and mailing lists, really anywhere that you can. We just never know who out there might be able to help.
