Hi! My name is Renee and I am creating this fund for my father, David Rodela. You can't kill rock and roll and you can't keep a good man down. ❤️ On July my mother had a "mini" stroke. Luckily, the doctors provided immediate treatment and scheduled a surgery to unclog an artery in her neck. My father was at her bedside for every momentand not even 48 hours after his wife had a stroke, he had a stroke! Talk about sympathy pains. Not wanting to be a burden, he pushed through the pain and got himself to my mother's hospital room to be there for her. It wasn't until he collapsed that anyone knew how serious it was. He was taken to the ER where the right side of his body lost all functionality. Even speaking became immensely difficult. The next day, he suffered a second stroke, this time on his left side. The doctors determined that the arteries in his brain stem had been disconnected from his spine, causing the loss of mobility. Because the arteries are so tiny and delicate, no doctor we know will attempt to reattach them, at the risk of causing more damage. He is now in a rehabilitation center full time, doing physical, occupational, and speech therapy 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. My father is no stranger to working hard, and we are working hard to make sure that he can focus on recovery and not worry about the stresses of anything else. Once an independent (somewhat stubbornly so ) man, he now has to depend on others for even the most basic tasks. His life is forever and permanently altered and coming to terms with that has been hard to say the least. Thankfully, his wit and intelligence are still going strong, he's still the rock star we know and love. But the mental and physical impact of losing all autonomy on half of the body would cause anyone to become low in spirits. Having to ask for help and being vulnerable for a person who is determined not to be a burden is so incredibly difficult. It is our goal to support his recovery while safeguarding his dignity along the way.  My parents home will need to undergo some changes for my father's safety and recovery. Just some of the changes include adding a ramp, widening doorways, remodeling the bathroom and shower for accessibility, installing grab bars, purchasing a lift chair, a bed that can be adjusted, the list goes on. On top of all of this, normal daily expenses and bills still go on as well! So knowing that my father would never ask for help himself at the risk of being a "burden", I'm doing it for him. I know this is a financial goal but even if you cannot donate, please send us a kind word or well wish instead! We are so incredibly grateful for even being in your thoughts or prayers. If you'd like to share the fund, that would be amazing as well! If you have any ideas of how we can raise funds, let us know! I have so much faith in our community, and I know that David is going to make the most epic comeback Thanks for your time and tell someone you love them today!  P.S. my mother's birthday is July 24 and he's determined to get my mother a present even while in rehabilitation.
