My name is Jarica Ybarra, and as some of you may know my husband David Ybarra was diagnosed with colon cancer in June of 2018. This news turned our world upside down as David was only 29 years old. How does this even happen? How were we supposed to explain this to our 6 children? We lived in fear for weeks knowing the unknown before David underwent surgery to have a port placed and then has been undergoing chemotherapy every other week since then going in on Wednesday mornings having chemo pumped into him for 4-6 hours and then having a pump hooked up to him and receiving chemotherapy from Wednesday-Friday afternoon all at home. David has undergone hundreds of rounds of chemotherapy on top of radiation and sometimes doing both in the same day. David has been fighting one of the hardest battles there is to fight and despite his efforts his body has stopped responding to chemotherapy. But this isn’t David’s ending and it’s not David giving up. We’ve decided to explore all of our options and we’ve decided to take David out of the country to receive medical care. This is going to be an extremely difficult decision as we navigate how to get David there for treatment, and still keep our home and children in as much normalcy as possible with us going away to get David better. Anyone that knows David knows he has given the shirt off of his back to strangers, he’s the most selfless person we’ve ever met, and his pride is even higher. David will never ask anyone for help and that’s why as his wife and as the mother of his children I’m asking to please help us help David continue to fight this awful disease and get a better quality of life back to enjoy this time with our children. Even if you’re unable to donate please just share this and help us spread the word to fight this fight we have ahead!
