On Wednesday morning October 14th David Preston had just completed his very first day on his new job. With immense pain he suffered through the night shift barely able to walk. His new boss insisted he see a doctor and to not worry his job was safe. Thankfully that demand is what probably saved his life. He saw a doctor which immediately sent him the the ER. By that evening surgery was scheduled to remove a blood clot from his leg. By midnight the surgeon came out to talk with the family. He had removed not 1 but 3 blood clots, one being at least 4 days old. Microvascular damage starts to occur only after 4-6 hours of the loss of blood supply. How he went through the 8 hours of work on that leg is amazing and an example of his determination to do well on his new job. The surgeon then went on the reluctantly say there would only be at 5% chance, at best, he’d be able to keep the leg. An above or below the knee amputation was pending. They would wait until that Monday, October 19th to perform the operation. But miracles do still happen! An army of prayer warriors hit their knees and a pulse was found in the top of his foot that Sunday! The astonished doctor immediately put the surgery on hold. The rest of the week was a cautious wait and see. With increasing pain and the realization that the damage from the front part of the foot was past the point of saving a transmetatarsal amputation was successfully performed Saturday October 24. The brilliant surgeon Dr. Christopher Frazier, stressed the key to a successful rehab and regaining full function of his leg was to keep pressure off of the foot until the wound completely heals. That means he cannot work, which means no income. We are starting this fund with a modest goal of just covering the basics of food and shelter so that David can concentrate totally on his rehabilitation and have no need to worry about the bare necessities of living. His personal goal is to be back to work on his new job in December, with your help and a total focus on rehabilitation that is a worthy and reachable goal.No amount is too small, every donation is greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your continued prayers, good wishes and support.
