Dear family and friends of our beloved David Hickey, As you may already know, David has been in the hospital since June 11th, fighting for his life following a severe infection that has caused a multitude of other issues throughout his body. During this extended treatment, there have been many times we thought we were certain to lose him, but thankfully he has continued to battle and stay with us. After having spent over a month in the ICU, David has been transferred to an acute long term care facility and continues to receive treatment. Unfortunately, David is still not out of the woods. At this time, there is no timeline for recovery and, indeed, recovery remains uncertain. As everyone can imagine, his month-long stay in the ICU and now his stay in a long-term care facility for how long no one knows, is going to accrue astronomical medical bills for David and his wife Nym. As he is unable to work, his insurance has switched over to COBRA which is sure to make those bills even larger. On top of all this, David was the main income earner as Nym only just finally received her green card during this period. To make matters worse, David does not have short-term disability insurance and is no longer receiving paychecks from his former employer. This means that he and Nym are facing a significant financial burden at a time when they are already incredibly stressed and worried about his health. Any contribution from his family and friends can hopefully help make this period slightly more manageable financially as we pray David continues to recover from this prolonged health crisis. Anything from this fundraiser will go towards medical costs/insurance and assist David and Nym in this transitional time.
