Cyril Kearney is a crossing guard at Berkeley Elementary School in Westwood NJ . Cyril is in his 70's and was just doing what he does best when tradegy struck him. On the morning of Wednesday October 14, 2015 around 8:15am Cyril was struck by a car while helping a woman cross a street at Berkeley's intersection . He was thrown onto and over the car. He was taken to HackensackUMC at Packsack Valley and was flown from there to the trauma center at Hackensack University Medical Center. He suffered a concussion and a leg injury that will require surgery.Cyril walked every day through rain, snow, and all types of weather from Hillsdale to Westwood to be there early to cross our kids and anyone else who was crossing . He is a dedicated , loyal and caring  man that had the saftey of  people especially kids as his #1 priorty . He loved his job. And many many people love him and want to help him. “He’s very caring, watches out for the children all the time. It’s very heart wrenching to see that he’s injured in this way,” said Police Chief Frank Regino.Please help Cryil who lives alone and will need help in many ways as he faces this long road to recovery.The Berkeley PSO thanks you and Cyril thanks you .
