Dear family, friends and loved ones, As many of you know, I'm a single father of two children in college and I find it difficult to put into words what I’m about to share with you, but here goes …Two months ago I got really ill and my whole body began to swell, from my feet on up. I was referred to a nephrologist who schedule a kidney biopsy. The results showed that I’m in Stage 4 kidney failure and I’m going to need a transplant. The shock of my diagnosis and my declining health leaves me feeling surreal. You can never be prepared for such things. You hear about them happening to other people, never imagining it would happen to you.Thankfully, several family members have offered to be donors and will be undergoing testing to see if they are a match for me. The love and support of my family is the silver lining in this ordeal.I'm grateful for the support of my family. However, it did not soften the reality of this diagnosis and the astonishing amount of money a transplant will cost. I am responsible for my own expenses as well as the expenses of the living donor. I was informed that the estimated cost for the transplant is $200,000.00. This does not include the estimated $24,000.00 per year for the immune-suppressive drugs I will need for the rest of my life. I am responsible for all non-covered and denied services by my insurance company. There is also a major expense for the drugs needed before, during and after the transplant. Once I have the transplant, I will be out of work for some time. Any support you can provide will be greatly appreciated. With the grace of God and through my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, along with the support and encouragement of my friends and family, I will get through this. My favorite bible verse is:I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. -Philippians 4:13Craig Entis
