As many of you know, my brother Justin is currently fighting for his life in the ICU. He was originally diagnosed with air in his chest cavity in early July after having chest pain. Monday 7/31, he was rushed to the hospital in Huntsville, Alabama, where he was placed on a ventilator, medically induced coma and life support and almost passed on Monday night. Tuesday 8/1, he was transported to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee where they diagnosed him with pneumonia and sepsis. His right lung is collapsed and has a hole in it and his left lung is being assisted with oxygen. He recently was able to come off the ventilator but is currently being kept alive by the ECMO machine. It is not able to be determined what damage is possible until he becomes stable enough to evaluate. Justin is expected to be in the ICU for the next couple of weeks until he is stable enough to be evaluated for surgery. He will need extensive physical therapy after he is released from the hospital. Justin is the main provider for his family and does not have health insurance, therefore medical expenses are adding up quickly. Medical bills and household bills/expenses are our main concerns once he becomes medically stable. We are thankful for all the thoughts and prayers at this time. He is a miracle for the improvements he has made but we are expecting a long road to recovery. All help is appreciated by our family.
