What was supposed to be a fun family vacation quickly turned into a nightmare I will never forget. On July 12th, we arrived in Berlin MD for our summer vacation; my husband, three kiddos, mama and her loving partner, Ronald aka Ron. After working long hours and being in a million different places, we were so happy to spend time with each other under one roof. Once we arrived, we quickly unpacked our belongings and my husband, three kids and Ron headed on foot to the campground beach area where we quickly splashed our feet in the bay. Ron and my older son, Jacob, decided to take a bit of a swim. Nearly five minutes later, Ron was nowhere in site. In a panic, I hurried into the bay and began searching for him. To my horror, I found him floating face down. I quickly turned him over and frantically began swimming him to shore. Onlookers jumped in to help the rescue efforts. My mom was summoned to come quickly and she ran from the house to the beach where Ron’s body laid on the sand while being worked on by EMTs. The campground was soon crawling with first responders who did everything they could. My mom & I rushed to the hospital to be by Ron’s side. After one hour of waiting, they told us he was no longer with us. We have yet to receive this autopsy report but Ron most likely had a heart attack or stroke and subsequently drowned in the big blue sea. He was an avid swimmer and could not wait to get into the water; he had his goggles on ready to go. He was such a kind and generous man to everyone he met and he was so very sweet to our family. We spent countless holidays together and shared many home cooked meals together. He gave so much of his love to my mom over the past six years and treated her like a queen. He will be missed by all and cherished deeply by my mom. They were not married but they shared a rental townhouse where my mom worked for his company. She’s left to grieve all while trying to find a new place to live and a new career. Please consider donating funds, well wishes or sharing this page. All proceeds will go towards my mom’s living accommodations so she has a place to rest her head while she grieves the loss of her best friend and partner. Thank you for listening and blessings to you. Hold your loved ones tight.
