For many years, Rod Ellis had a lifeboat that sailed effortlessly. He held a full-time job and assisted his wife at Warm Fuzzies cat shelter/sanctuary. When Joy got lung cancer, he took the helm and became her caregiver as well. On Sept. 11, 2024, their lifeboat ran into a horrible storm. Rod suffered a stroke... 17 days later was admitted to the ICU, with a heart attack....and soon afterward, was diagnosed with Colorectal cancer. Still, Joy and Rod sailed on; believing their boat could beat all odds. Sadly, on June 2 (two days after Rod returned from his first cancer surgery), Joy passed away. Today, Rod continues fighting the raging storm of a major health crisis, but this time with a shattered heart. He starts chemo and radiation soon...followed by major heart surgery...and then an operation to repair an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The donations from this LFEBridge, will cover the vast medical expenses accrued. If you have money to share, I would be incredibly grateful if you remembered my brother. If your lifeboat is going through a storm as well...I am so very sorry. Please call out for help. There are kind people everywhere. And after reading this, pick up the phone, and tell someone how much you love them. Fair winds and following seas, Claudia (Ellis) Vanderpool
