Our dear friend, Cindy Weiss, has been fighting Leukemia since 2018. During these short five years, she has had: - Chemotherapy (seven times) and radiation (two times) only to be told there is nothing else that can be done. - Two gastric bypass surgeries as a result of the acid causing ulcers in her stomach. - Retire on medical disability from a job that she loved and held for 23 years with the City of Melbourne. - Depend on social security disability as her only means of income. As her journey continues, Cindy was informed her only option is to have a bone marrow transplant. Not only was this difficult decision but it has not been an easy process due to several roadblocks. Her faith in God has helped her through every difficult step and she believes, without a doubt, that He will never leave her nor forsake her, Hebrews 13:5. This month, July ‘23, Cindy will start the bone marrow transplant journey at Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Fl (3 hours from her home). Challenging is an understatement, between finding caregivers who can be with her as she recovers and for her two daughters, Jennifer (husband Michael) and Katie, and five grandchildren, Stasi, Caden, Savi, Brody, and Bailey who are not able to be nearby. So why is accepting bone marrow transplant a difficult decision? The cost. Cindy has insurance but it does not cover all that comes with staying in Tampa during the time of the transplant; housing in excess of $100 per day, living expenses, paying for caregiver’s expenses, and anything else that arises. All of this in addition to her 20% copay. A little overwhelming right? We ask that you join us in helping our sweet friend any way you can. Any amount is not too little. Jesus took one fish and fed thousands. Be that one fish. Added together, we can be Cindy’s lifeline. One more thing, can you please pray for Cindy, her family, her caregivers, the bone marrow donor, and the doctors? We know the great Physician and he hears our prayers! God is good, all the time!
