Hi, I'm part of the Christy (extended family love) and funds are being raised in support of Reed Christy and his courageous immediate family as they prepare for medical and legal bills after this wonderful; Husband, Father, Son, and Brother was violently struck on his motorcycle by a motor car (see below initial story posted by his extraordinary wife, Marie) Dear Friends, relatives, and those we may not yet know .. Thank you for your outpouring of love and support. Reed was riding a motorcycle when he was hit by a car on Tuesday, Jun 27, just before 8pm. He suffered severe trauma on his right leg and pelvis with internal bleeding in his abdomen. Immediate procedures included amputation above the knee and removal of damaged small intestines. His pelvis will require ortho surgery at a later time. Currently, his vitals are stabilizing which means they can ease him out of sedation, and eventually, remove the ventilator. His doctors and ICU nurses are doing an amazing job. We're so grateful for their competence, care and warmth. Reed's recovery will be a long journey. Hospital stay may extend many weeks (perhaps months)...it's just too early to tell. Plus, there will be many many months of rehab and therapy. In the meantime, we'd like to limit visits to the ICU, which is limited in space. But we are looking forward to all the well-wishers to stop by once he's out of the ICU. Above all, we are so grateful that Reed is still with us and we are ready to face any challenges ahead as a family. Yes, his body will be different but his soul will be stronger than ever. And, for those humorous ones, get your jokes ready! We'll laugh and smile through these hard times. And I'm giving a huge middle finger to this "tragedy" and gonna come out a winner! So will Reed.
