My name is Linda, as a few of you know my daughter, Chasity, was recently diagnosed with non-alcoholic liver disease that will require transplantation in the near future. Chasity is only 40years old and the mother of two teenagers, who need their Mom. Chasity has been a nurse for the last 13 years, working with a variety of populations, mostly geriatrics, locally. Since her diagnosis in February, Chasity has been unable to work. She has required frequent trips to the ER for the management of continuous abdominal pain, generalized weakness, and profound fatigue. She has required paracentesis four times so far, a surgical procedure necessary to remove fluid from the peritoneal cavity. She has also needed several endoscopies to band esophageal varices, which put her at a major risk for gastrointestinal hemorrhage as a result of her failing liver. She has a poor appetite and is struggling to meet her caloric needs to prepare her body for the possibility of a liver transplant. If she is unable to meet her body's needs she will need to have a feeding tube placed. Last week, we met with the doctors at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston to discuss the plans moving forward. Chasity will be making frequent trips to Beth Israel for close monitoring until there is a transplant available. In addition to the crippling symptoms of her non-alcoholic liver failure, the mental and emotional stress of trying to make ends meet has been incredibly challenging. The stress of knowing there are tens of thousands of dollars worth of uncovered costs associated with transplantation, not even including travel and lodging is incredibly anxiety-producing. According to data collected in 2024, the average liver transplant costs nearly $900,000. Chasity has exhausted all of her resources at this point and needs help. Chasity is a very giving person and would give the shirt off her back to anyone in need. As a mother, I have never felt so helpless and out of control. Thank you for taking the time to read Chasity's story. Please consider donating. If you are able to donate, there is no amount that would not be helpful. If you are unable to donate please share the link as much as you possibly can. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will updating here with any new news. Thank you again.
