Hi, my name is McKenzie Campbell and I'm raising money for Carolyn Campbell. Those who know Carolyn know her to be a loving, funny, caring, giving, and wonderful person. She still is all of those things, but right now she needs some help. On June 13, Carolyn went to the ER for chest pain where they discovered multiple pulmonary embolisms and some scans of her abdomen that looked suspicious. They admitted Carolyn on June 16 in order to get the blood clots under control. While admitted they ran more tests and scans and found a large mass on her pancreas as well as nodules on her liver. She was discharged on Monday, June 19 to go home with appointments scheduled with other doctors to get more information. Upon discharge we were told by the attending doctor that he was certain it was pancreatic cancer. On June 23, Carolyn had an appointment with Illinois Cancer Center where it was confirmed that she has stage 4 pancreatic and liver cancer. At this appointment her prognosis was 4-6 months. Carolyn has opted not to receive cancer treatments because the doctor admitted it wouldn't help a lot and would diminish quality of life. Currently, Carolyn is at home on pain medications to help her be comfortable with family rotating to help her at home. For those who don't know, February 28, 2014, my father - Carolyn's husband, passed away from terminal pancreatic cancer. So this family has seen all too well what this disease can and does do to people. We are asking for help to cover the cost of medications that will improve the quality of life that Carolyn does have remaining. This also includes covering the cost for a portable air concentrator so she will be able to move more freely and leave the house more easily as she is currently on oxygen when she needs to walk around. We are still unsure of what some of her medical bills will look like from her hospital stay and scans, so funds will also be used for that once they begin coming in. Carolyn would do anything for anyone and truly has a heart of gold. If you are able and willing we would appreciate any and all help that you're able to provide to our family to make her feel as comfortable as possible. Thank you! *Update: As of June 15 Carolyn has been admitted to the hospital after having a small heart attack and finding more blood clots. She’s feeling better and is acting her goofy funny self. We are still waiting for when she’ll be able to go home. She’ll go home hopefully on Monday on home health palliative care. *Update: as of Tuesday July 18, Carolyn has been advised and agreed to go home on hospice care to make her as comfortable as she can be and manage her pain better. *Update: July 19 - Carolyn is home and hospice will be coming this evening to discuss things with us. We are thinking of doing a t-shirt fundraiser to raise more money as well. I will put out more information on that at a later time.
