Hello beautiful friends, family, clients, colleagues, and acquaintances. I have a super exciting announcement, followed by an exciting and terrifying request for you all. I am finally making steps to open my own studio space!! AHHH. This is something I have been working toward for a long time, and the more my business grows, the more I have wanted to work toward having my own space where I can serve my clients, explore people, and grow my work and art. For years I have done my work in all sorts of other spaces — first in my living room in Tucson, then in Airbnbs in all of the cities I traveled to in my boudoir touring days, then in rental studios in New York. All of these spaces have played such an important role in the development of my art and business, and I have squeezed every last drop of creative and professional possibility out of all of them. It finally feels like my business really needs a home of its own. Having a studio space of my own will allow me to spend more time with each client, explore new and exciting creative endeavors, and make my services more accessible to more people. This is where you come in. I am coming to you all to ask for your help in raising the funds to cover some of the startup costs of opening my own studio space. I have my eye on a few candidate spaces, and I have been crunching numbers for months to make a plan for what it will cost to get the space up and running and functional for the kind of work I do the most of in my business. Your generous donations will go towards the initial costs of gear, insurance, transportation, space leasing, etc. to get the space up and running. I say again, AAHHHHH!! Building community has been hands down the most rewarding part of my job. Given the intimate nature of my work and the way that community makes that kind of intimacy feel safe and affirming, sharing that intimacy and vulnerability with other people has inspired the formation of such magical relationships both between me and you all and among those of you who have connected with each other through working with me. The community I have formed through my work is what has allowed my business to grow and thrive in the way it has. So I have decided to turn to that community to help me take this next step and create a space for the roots of my business and my art to deepen. I have really run this business as a one-woman show for a lot of years now, and asking for help from my community is not something that I have historically been ^enormously^ good at doing (as the people who are closest to me can attest to — I am much more likely to run myself into the ground trying to do everything myself all the time). This feels like a really nice opportunity to shift that a bit. Your help and support is everything, and I am working on reaching for it more. Thank you thank you thank you in advance, I really can’t wait for this next step. www.carolinekingphotography.com No raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or promotions are offered in exchange for any donations made to this LFEBridge.
