Friends and family of Bryan “Jay” Finchum want to help Bryan, Amber and girls with Bryan’s current cancer battle. Besides wrapping them in love and prayers, we would like to help financially as well. May 31st, 2024, Bryan had a lipoma removed from the underside of his arm and a growth on the top of his arm. It was sent off to pathology and on June 20th their world was turned upside down with just one phone call. Bryan was diagnosed with a rare form of soft tissue cancer, Myxofibrosarcoma. They quickly began to put a game plan together with MD Anderson - Sarcoma and Orthopedic Center in Houston, Texas. The treatment plan consists of radiation and surgery. Brian will undergo radiation from July 19 – August 9 and surgery will follow in mid-September. The surgery will remove the skin, tissue and some of the muscle starting just above the wrist to just below the elbow, all the way around the arm. Having radiation prior to surgery will help interrupt and kill the cancer cells and allow for new healthy cells to grow. They will likely do a skin graft from Bryan’s thigh to cover his forearm. Following surgery, they will go back to Houston every 3 months for an MRI and CT of his chest for the next 3 years. 3-5 years they will go back every 6 months for the same tests and then after the 5-year mark, the visits will be annual. Bryan has a long road ahead but nothing he, Amber and the girls can’t handle!! Please continue to keep saying prayers and sending positive thoughts their way! We will be sharing updates, establishing a social media page along with hosting some events in the future to help them as well. His fight is our fight. Thank you in advance for your support & love!
