Bruce Bellin was in a motorcycle accident on June 24, 2024 that left him with a traumatic brain injury. After 4 weeks in the hospital, we are anticipating he will be able to return home; however, he is unable to continue living by himself for an undetermined amount of time. He will continue needing 24 X 7 custodial care at home as he re-learns to read/write, speak fluently, operate appliances, etc. ... and to ensure he is safe, especially during this critical period until the portion of his skull is put back in place (estimate 3 months after the accident). He currently has significant medical expenses where he has a high out-of-pocket cost with his insurance coverage. His family (3 children, 3 sisters and mother) are trying to spend as much time with him as we can and will need to supplement that with other custodial care. If he needs further inpatient rehab, the cost will be even higher; none of which is covered by insurance due to the fact his care is cognitive versus ambulatory. Bruce has been highly involved in ministry work and coaching/sponsoring hundreds of people in the recovery community for over 20 years. His life has been devoted to helping others; and now he needs help to heal, recover and assimilate back into his "normal" lifestyle. Many people have asked how they can help him. Therefore, his family is setting up this Go Fund Me account where funds raised will be applied to his continued long-term care. We realize that not all people can (or desire to) contribute which is understandable and fine. We minimally ask that you offer a prayer for this special guy; praying that he can fully recover and get his memory back along with the cognitive skills needed to return to a normal life. Thank you for your thoughts, prayers and/or any contributions you are comfortable giving. You can also find updates on his recovery journey on the Caring Bridge site: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brucebellin With love and gratitude, Bruce and his family
