Dad passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 19th, 2016. ------------ My dad was diagnosed in late summer with Pancreatic Cancer - his re-scheduled for surgery is October 28th (from October 22nd so he can gain strength). Dad is recovering in hospital for 1 - 2 weeks after the procedure. This will be followed by 6 months of recovery at home in addition to potential chemotherapy. Dad has always loved baseball, he played as a kid and even took a run at being a professional player with Pittsburgh farm team. As I was growing up some of my fondest memories are of dad's softball tournaments and camping across BC with our family and the friends we made through the sport. Premium tv in the hospital room is nearly $100/week. In addition there are always the extra expenses of having a loved one be so ill - hospital parking is a big one. Our friends, family and colleagues been overwhelmingly supportive. We have had many kind words, phone calls, emails and casseroles. I've set up this "go fund me" so that if anyone would like to help, they can bring dad the sports he loves to watch on TV. Any money raised will go towards dad's premium TV subscription in the hospital, mom's parking and dad's aftercare in the following months. We know that we have everyone rooting for us and supporting our team. We know that everyone will be waving their Friesen rally towels in the coming days and months. Thank you for your kind thoughts and continued love and emotional support.
