Our story is a love letter written in mozzarella and crushed tomatoes. Three years ago, CJ got the idea to recreate our hometown tomato pie and my eyes lit up with the first bite. Well, if you know anything about CJ, you know that he has been chasing that high ever since. Nearly twenty years after our first date in a Trenton tomato pie shop, we started serving our take on this nostalgic classic from our rowhome on Emily Street, right here in East Passyunk. Before we knew it, Saturday pies were selling out in minutes, we loved working together, and we thought maybe (just maybe) there might be a future in this. With the dedicated support of neighbors, family, and customers-turned-friends, our little home business blossomed into a partnership at Cartesian Brewing where we’re excited to serve pies from behind the bar starting in September. What started as a love letter baked in our Emily Street kitchen is now our love letter to the entire neighborhood. With your support, we’re hoping to purchase our starting inventory — those delicious ingredients you’ve come to crave — and the final few pieces of equipment we need to be ready for our mid-September opening (exact date at the mercy of the Department of Public Health). Thank you for taking a minute to share in our story and considering contributing to this adventure. We can’t wait to serve you at Cartesian Brewing!
