Hello, my name is Tashema Allen. I'm from Brooklyn, NY. On January 31, 2024 something life changing happened to me. I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I was advised by my physician to stop working immediately and eliminate stress factors in my life. In the beginning, I struggled with how to process this news. How to function on the day to day, how to care for my 5 children, how to maintain a relationship with my significant other, overall how to keep going when my mind and my body wants to shut down completely. It's been a lot on us. For those that follow me on social media, I have been documenting my chemotherapy journey. I try to be transparent about my treatment and the toll it's taking on my family and I. I've experienced loss of consciousness, complete hair loss, severe weight loss, fatigue, persistent nausea, appetite loss, difficulty breathing, just to name a few. I wouldn't wish this type of pain/illness on my worst enemy. My immune system is compromised, so I have to be careful with my interactions, while trying to maintain a sense of normalcy. On May 30, 2024 my home caught on fire. By the grace of GOD, I was home alone and managed to grab some important items while escaping. Red Cross put us in a hotel for a day. Since the incident, my family & I have been living in a shelter, patiently waiting for housing placement. Finding a home in the New York City area can be a very lengthy, stressful process. My family and I are in need of a home and some stability. I'm in need of breast cancer surgery in the next month or so and my insurance will only cover partial payment. So this is me being transparent, putting my pride aside, so that we could get back to doing the things we love the most. I'm requesting $20,000 to cover the cost of my procedures to remove both breasts and other medical expenses (consultations, medical exams, further treatment and medications). As I get on the road to recovery, I will not be able to work and support my family. Your contribution will allow us some stability, granting us the chance to focus on other things besides my financial burden. If you're able to, I would really appreciate your help by donating a contribution and sharing my story across your social media platforms. There is power in numbers and power in prayers, please help us during this rough patch. I'm learning to trust GOD more and more. Thank you for taking the time out your busy schedule to read my story, may GOD bless you.
