Hi!My name is Brandi Marks, I am a sophomore at Millikin University in Decatur, IL. I am going to school for a Bachelors of Arts in Education with a focus on Social Studies (Social Science), a minor in the Spanish language, as well as a certificate to teach grades 9-12 in Illinois.  I want to be an educator as soon as I can. I want to be able to help students in struggling communities become better  through educational means. I want to be there for those students that can’t go on the field trip because they didn’t have the money. I want to be there for the struggling student who can’t do their homework because they are working in order to make sure they are fed. I want to help, and I can’t do that with out my degree.  I am trying to raise money in order to pay my tuition bills at Millikin. At the moment I have $2,846.97 balance that has not been paid. If I get my bill below $500, I will be able to register for next semester. I would need the money ASAP as the program I am in will register for classes on November 4th.  I have been told that I am able to register later, which is better than not be able to register at all which is where I am now. If I am not able to register, it would exclude me from  classes (as well as a university) that would help my career and enable me to continue working the hours I do now. I am a full time student as well as work two work study jobs (pay is $7.25/hr.).  I am not allowed to go over 50 hours in a pay period. I wish it was a matter of being able to work the money off, but I haven’t been able to.  This means so much to me because I just want to be able to get through a four-year university. Neither of my parents went to a four-year university, and I want to be able to lessen the cost of an expensive four year, private college on them as well as myself.  Due to unforeseen incidents, we weren't able to pay the total amount.  We have tried private loans, I have maxed out on federal loans and grants, and my school has not been able to come up with anything else they can do to help. I do have over $35,000 in support from scholarships, grants, and financial aide, but my FASFA claimed our out-of-pocket cost was attainable. This is my last option.  If I was able to raise all of the money, I would be so, completely, entirely grateful to each and every single person that donated. I will write each and every person that donates an email or a letter that will probably have a piece of candy or a tear drop of gratitude on it.  Seriously, thank you so much to anyone who donates. It will mean the world to me, my family, and my future students. ^That's me!
