Hello, Im Greg! My longtime friend Joe Clifford( Big Joe) had a stroke that came with many health issues. I saw my good friend last Friday and he needs any help we can give him. Joe has lived in Mi his whole life and has worked hard and always helped others! He needs our help with his medical bills ( no insurance) and has no income to pay his mortgage to keep his house he loves. He is no longer able to work and is trying to recover. PLEASE HELP! Please read and please help! Here's his wife, Maria! My name is Maria C. Up until a few months ago, my husband and I lived a simple but very fulfilling and happy life. Things started changing this past April. Joe had just started a new job, another company wanted him to work for them and was negotiating an offer, he was under a lot of stress and was having migraines . He had a history of micro strokes (TIA ) but always recovered on his own within a few hours. The night of April 26th, he was running a fever, he was dizzy and fell, hitting his head on the way down I don't know exactly what he hit, I woke up and saw the blood running down his face. He said he was fine but he had a migraine and was getting more and more confused, so in the morning we decided to go to the hospital to rule out a concussion In the ER doctors ran a scan of his brain but didn't see signs of stroke, so because he was running a fever, they asked me permission to do a spinal tap to check for meningitis. Joe needed to be sedated for this procedure. Once he was asleep, his breathing became unstable because he suffers from sleep apnea but Dr's didn't know and so decided to put him on a ventilator which requires the patient to be under induce coma. When he was moved to the ICU and I was finally able to see him, I was very upset to see him unnecessarily intubated, I was aware of the micro strokes and I knew the last thing someone with brain injury needs is to go into a deep sleep Doctor took him off the ventilator as soon as they became aware of his sleep apnea condition, but the damage was already done. Joe didn't wake up from his coma for 10 very long days., and for weeks after that he didn' talk or move, he'd just stare completely unresponsive and only awake for 2 minutes every several hours. The spinal tap came back negative and an MRI was carried out which revealed the history of micro strokes that we already knew. Drs told us the micro strokes are scattered and very small they don't expect any permanent damage but they warn us of the long and slow journey. Because Joe was 2 days short of completing his 90 days at his new job, we do not have insurance we applied for Medicaid and was denied the first time, we reapply and it is currently pending, and the bills keep coming These last few months have been very difficult for us.. we can't apply for disability until he's disabled for 12mons, I don't know what to do in the meantime , I can't get a job cause he needs 24/7 care, the charities out there aren't free if you don't have Insurance...I would love to find an assembling job to do at home while I care for Joe! Please donate what you can to help Joe and Maria! God bless them!
