I have definitely learned over the last years that being brave doesn’t mean that I do not have fear, but it means that I keep going despite having the fear. About 15 years ago, I met this bright eyed, spunky little girl running around the grocery store barefoot while her Mom chased after her apologizing. I just laughed and egged her on. She was living fearlessly with not a care in the world. As this little girl grew up, she became a strong, amazing young woman. She continues to make us all laugh and smile, cares for all the kids and animals, loves her family unconditionally, and wants everyone to just get along. While doing all those things for us, she struggles inside and it wasn’t until recently that we realized the effect that it has on her life. Mental illnesses affect so many of us, but yet, we do not have great resources easily accessible or affordable. The ones that are available and reasonable cost turn to high doses of medications and do not set individuals up for long-term success. At least that is what we have found to be true! But, with her family alongside of her, this now 19 year old brave young woman has decided that in order to set herself up for success, she will complete an in-patient 90 day program in Asheville, NC. This isn’t an easy decision, one with much fear involved, but she’s brave. The total cost of this program is $75,000. $25,000 is due upon admission and every 30 days thereafter. Unfortunately, insurance will not cover it, as it is out of network. The ones that are in-network have 1 star or less. She did go to a local in-patient center and was discharged 5 days later with no short-term or lifelong plan to help. First and foremost, I ask you to keep everyone in your prayers. It is an unknown journey but one that is filled with hope, love, and joy! God has opened this door for her and we fully believe He will provide. If you are able to donate monetarily, it would be greatly appreciated. This is a necessary, but unexpected cost for the family. If you prefer to donate via check or other source, please reach out to me and I'll give you the details. Please know that this is a very private journey and it has taken a lot for the family to seek assistance - we ask that you do not post details. The family will share information as they wish throughout the process, but I assure you, they are beyond thankful for all donations.
