To our most dearest friends and family, I would like to share a short story about our dear friend Rebecca Andon, in a friendship that has lasted over 30+ years, with her and her husband Richard Andon. My wife Tania and I, were out to breakfast with our beautiful friends Richard and Rebecca (Bec) Andon on the 2nd of April earlier this year. They both let us know the very sad news that on the 23rd of March, Bec was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a type of blood cancer that is currently incurable but treatable. Tania and I were both in shock and totally devastated for them and their family. The tears were flowing. I will never forget how helpless we both felt at the time. I knew then though, that I had to do something to help Richard and Bec and their family. I wanted to show them how much they all meant to our family and to say we are all coming on this journey with them. I decided to put all the training and running I do, to good use! On May 1st, 2024, I will be attempting to run/hike the whole Heysen Trail from start to finish which is approximately 1200 km. I am expecting it will take me around a month to complete, with a significant amount of training required in the lead-up to the event. I'm doing this run to try and raise much-needed funds to support the organisations that assist people who contract this horrible disease and undertake medical research into the care, treatment and search for a cure. This LFEBridge page has been set up to raise funds, which will be split 50/50 between Myeloma Australia and Leukaemia House in Adelaide (Bec's choice of charities). Please help us fundraise for these incredible charities, so dear to Bec’s heart. Bec & I and our families are so grateful for your support and thank you from the bottom of our hearts in advance, for your contribution. I know together we can make a huge difference. God bless you all. Darren Hayward
