I'm running the London Landmarks half marathon to raise funds to support my beautiful neighbour Maya and her family on her cancer journey. She has recently celebrated her 10th Birthday after having beaten the odds battling a rare form of cancer Neuroblastoma. Very sadly she has now had to deal with the news that her cancer has returned, and she must again fight. She is strong, brave, and has shown such spirit in the face of such terribly unfair adversity, such an amazing and awesome little human ❤️ I would like to raise as much as I can to help support her and her family in their fight. Any donation no matter how big or small will be received with thanks and gratitude. Please do share my link too if you can xx As they say, it takes a village to raise a child, so let's stick together and help them fight in any way we can. Thank you so much xxx The text below if from their LFEBridge page, and gives a bit more detail about what she has already endured, and is now facing again. Very unfortunately, our dear 10-year old youngest daughter Maya’s cancer is back. And when Neuroblastoma relapses, it is with a vengeance. From April 2017-September 2018, Maya received intensive frontline treatment on the NHS (National Health Service) via SIOPEN clinical trial. From February 2019-February 2024, Maya received treatment via clinical trial at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York. September 2024, it would have been 4 years 10 months since the NHS frontline treatment, and 3 years 5 months since the clinical trial in New York. Maya’s leg pains started the third week of June 2024. We ended up at A&E WHH (William Harvey Hospital) on 8th July 2024, and since then Maya has had chest X-ray (9th July), MRI pelvis/abdomen (10th July), ultrasound abdomen (13th July), MiBG/SPECT scan (25th July) which confirmed that the cancer is once again spreading. In the words of Maya’s paediatric oncology consultant, once Neuroblastoma relapses, it is more challenging to control the disease. Either we will try to get rid of it (again) or it will buy you time.
