Nearly 3 months ago, a dear friend, father, and son suffered a critical heart attack, followed by a stroke and then another heart attack. He has since had months of terrible medical setbacks, including 6 falls at two different medical facilities, and endured numerous times on and off a ventilator, followed by a tracheostomy. He is struggling daily, to keep climbing his way back to health. In the opinion of many, these falls all feel completely preventable and entirely unnecessary. He needs a chance to recover. He needs a place where he is cared for properly, and where he can be watched/guarded and kept safe. Pictured above is Greg, only a week ago before his most recent fall, sitting up in a chair, communicating and full of hope and ambition. Today, he is back in the ICU with new injuries and head trauma. He can't catch a break! As Greg has been going through his trials, for these last nearly 3 months, his family has been working extremely hard in the community to gather enough financial resources to cover his bills and support his basic possessions, until he can come home to them. Both of his boys have moved from out of state, to the lake area where they have gained employment, and have attempted to tackle their fathers' financial responsibilities, while also making trips to Columbia, MO to aid in his recovery and wellness, as best they can. Greg's mother spent the first 6 weeks at his side, daily, while paying for a hotel nearby the entire time, and after such a long period of time the amount that has been spent has depleted any funds that were previously available. His boys/family want to see their dad treated like a human being - respected, honored, and cared for safely and properly. They are willing to work hard to carry his bills while also trying to make their own. After the occurrence of the most recent setback and trying to find any local assistance available, we have decided that asking for any LFEBridge will hopefully prove beneficial, and allow all parties involved to at least maintain an environment that encourages recovery and stability.
