Hi, my name is Miss Beth and I have been Sebastian’s nursery teacher since he was three months old. Bash was diagnosed with PMG and has been through several rounds of medications to help curb his seizures as well as multiple stays at Riley Children’s Hospital. This fundraiser is to help his mother, Kristin, with his current and future medical bills. At 3.5 months old, Bash started having seizures and was sent down to Riley Children’s Hospital where he was diagnosed with PMG (Polymicrogyria). Polymicrogyria literally means “many small folds” in the brain. Those many small folds in his brain make it difficult for him to process information. Approximately 90% of patients with PMG also have epilepsy. Bash is in that 90%. Bash has the more severe form of PMG (bilateral) which typically means more severe of a cognitive delay. We will not know what or if he will have any delay until he gets a little older. No two children with PMG will have the same outcome. Controlling the seizures (hardest part of PMG) and getting the child in PT, OT, and ST are vital. Bash also has infantile spasms which are a rare form of seizures. These seizures are sudden, two-five second jerks that happen repeatedly for an unknown amount of time. Bash’s usually last anywhere from 5-10 mins. These seizures are extremely harmful to a child. Many babies with infantile spasms have severe neurological impairment so they are likely to have many intellectual challenges.
