Hi, my name is John and I’m raising funds to help cover the expenses of our baby Theodore in NICU (neonatal intensive care unit). Theodore was born on June 23, 2024, after a healthy pregnancy. He was a healthy 8 pounds and the birth seemed to have gone well, but a few minutes after birth it was clear that something wasn’t right. Little Theodore had trouble breathing and was put on supplemental oxygen. They hoped that supplemental oxygen for a while would take care of it, but after some ups and downs discovered bleeding from one lung as well, and after CO2 started to build up in his blood, they life flighted him to a level 4 NICU. They were able to stabilize him, but he was put on a ventilator and pretty strong meds to keep him from fighting the ventilator as well as to keep his vitals where they need to be. They don’t know what exactly happened or why and have run an enormous number of tests and scans which have ruled out physical abnormalities (congenial and other), infection, or injury. Doctors say they are optimistic, but this is likely to be weeks or months, not days, in the NICU. We live an hour’s drive away from the hospital, but distance-wise not far enough to get help from charities like Ronald McDonald house, and have an older sibling to care for as well, so have been commuting back and forth 1-2 times per day. We have medical insurance, but that will not cover all expenses either. Our finances are tight and we’re kindly asking for help to raise $20,000 to help with medical and costs related to commuting while Theodore is being treated in the NICU. We are very encouraged by you joining us in the journey and your financial help along the way.
