As many of you are aware our sister, Kayla, has been going through a whirlwind of medical treatments after the early arrival of their daughter, Jordyn, in December. Jordyn had a twin that was not viable and caused a molar pregnancy, which is extremely rare. They did know of a second placenta, but they didn’t realize there had been another baby in it until delivery. Unfortunately, the cells from a molar pregnancy can turn into cancer. She underwent a CT that found no cancer, but her HCG levels weren’t dropping. They went ahead with methotrexate treatments out of the cities, which brought her HCG number back down. They continued to monitor her numbers to make sure they stayed down and to their dismay they started to rise again. At this point the treatment plan led to chemotherapy, which she began in Brainerd. As the weeks of treatment went on her numbers again began to rise. Which has now led The U of M to do another CT that still found no cancer, but did find blood clots. This also led them to believe the cells are still in her uterus and they went ahead with a hysterectomy, hoping this was the answer to our prayers! Kayla was taken into the ER a couple nights ago due to her blood thinners for her blood clots causing internal bleeding. The U had them bring Kayla back down and are now monitoring her blood trying to make sure it is thickening back up, which will allow her to heal internally! During this process Kayla has not been able to work. Now with the events of these last few weeks Dan hasn't been able to work either, as he has been by Kayla’s side. We would like to take some financial stress off of them as Kayla is trying to recover. Feel free to reach out if you would like to help in any other way even if it were a meal for the family. We appreciate all the love and support through this whole process and praying for the day they can finally be able to settle in as a family of 6 at home!
