Hi. We are the Rogerss family. 3 weeks ago, I received news that my husband, Jerry, was in the hospital with a blood infection caused from hitting his shin on the boat while commercial fishing, and if he went to sleep that night, he would’ve died. I didn’t realize our whole life was about to change overnight. The last three weeks has been a crazy, scary, harrowing journey that is nowhere near finished. He has had six surgeries and at multiple points thought he might lose his leg. We are still not out of the woods, but things are looking better as we wait for enough healing that he can get a graft. Even so, it’s going to be a long road to recovery. Everything we had was invested into the boat and this commercial fishing season, but he never had a chance to start. He will be in recovery in tremendous pain for at least six months with our family of 4 relying on only my server income to cover that loss. Being a server is hard in this economy, especially when missing days to be by my husband’s side 200 miles away from home. I am doing the best I can, taking care of the kids, running back and forth to Soldotna Regional Hospital, food, gas, bills, wound care costs, etc.. I feel like I’m drowning. I know my husband didn’t want me to put this on here. We’re both recovering addicts and since 2016 we have worked so hard to get where we are today. In the last three weeks, I’ve had to come to terms that we’re going to lose most everything we’ve fought and worked so hard for. I know those are material objects and they will be replaced but with everything else, I want to make sure I can keep a roof over our heads and get my husband back in the comfort of our home so he can truly start his healing process. All donations will be used to help pay our mortgage so I can catch us up on bills and figure out what’s next for our family. If you can find it in your heart to donate any help will be so greatly appreciated.
