This is my Beautiful 7month old niece. Arya is a wonderful baby that is always happy and smiling. She truly brings joy to all of us! BUT, she was born with Congentital Heart Defects (atrioventricular septal defect(ASD) and tetralogy of fallot (TOF)), Arya had open heart surgery on Tuesday (Oct, 20th) and her parents anticipated a 6-8 day stay at the hospital. Unfortunatly Arya is not recovering so smoothly. On early Friday morning Arya's parents were called to her room because she was not doing well . Her liver and kidneys were starting to fail and the doctors decided that it would be best to put her on an ECMO machine so that Arya's body would have a chance to heal. They did the surgery right in her room and they had to leave her chest open (covered) until she comes off. They plan on Baptizing her tomorrow (October 26) and on Tuesday they will try to wing her off the ECMO machine, They may still have to go back in and perform another surgery. Her parents did not anticipate such a long stay and the extra cost that come with the complications. They do have insurance but the insurance only covers so much of there medical bills (the parking alone at the hospital is $10-$15 per day.) The doctors can not give them a time frame on when they can take Arya home because they honestly do not know what is going to happen. Her parents are not working because they do not want to leave her and they are not offered family medical leave with pay. There is no money flow coming in at all.
