** April 24, 2024 Update on Aaron Bragg ** Aaron received the most wonderful blessing of a heart and liver transplant on April 24, 2024 (his "new birthday")! Aaron waited a very long 140 Days inside the ICU at Mass General before receiving this miracle of organ donation. We are so happy Aaron has been given a new lease on life. He has a lot of healing and rehabilitation to do, but he is so excited and ready for the task to begin healing! He will be in the hospital for several more weeks undergoing daily testing and weekly biopsies to ensure his body does not reject the organs, and major physical therapy to gain back his strength after being hospitalized for so long. Aaron, we are so thrilled for you to have this new chance at a healthy life, and praying for all of the testing, biopsies and rehabilitation therapy to go so well for you! When you do finally make it home to Washburn, there will be a parade in your honor! ** 03/24/2024 New Update on Aaron Bragg: 110 Days!! Aaron has been admitted at Mass General Hospital in Boston for 110 days since December 5, 2024, with a heart pump installed since December 12th, still waiting for a heart transplant. It is a very lonely and trying time for Aaron. He would greatly love to hear from friends and family to help pass the long days in the hospital. Aaron has now broken a record that he never wanted to break. He has had the Impella heart pump installed longer than any other patient that has been at Mass General Hospital and also at the Lahey Clinic. His Heart Team originally thought the heart pump would be installed for no more than 3 - 4 weeks before receiving the transplant surgery. It is taking much longer than anyone expected for Aaron to receive a donor match, due to his height. Please reach out to Aaron by phone, Facebook messenger or text, call or card/letter if you can. It would help to lift his spirits very much. To send anything to him by mail, the address is: Massachusetts General Hospital Aaron Bragg 55 Fruit Street Floor Ellison 9, Room 938 Boston, MA 02114 The family is truly grateful for any help that you're able to give. Thank you! ❤️ **12/17/2024 New Update on Aaron Bragg: Aaron's condition took a turn for the worse at Massachusetts General Hospital on December 12th; he was transferred to the ICU (Ellison Floor 9) that day. The surgical team decided to install the Impella Heart Pump that same day. With the heart pump constantly connected to his heart now, Aaron is now at a Status 2 on the Heart Transplant List as of 12/12/2024. We are praying for a miracle for Aaron to receive the gift of a heart donation very soon. Aaron has so many IVs and monitors/wires connected to him now that he is unable to even get out of bed without assistance. The days are long and he is hanging in there and trying to remain hopeful. Below is his address if you'd like to send a Christmas card or well wishes; it really brightens up the long days in the hospital to receive cards, letters or phone calls from family and friends. :) Massachusetts General Hospital Aaron Bragg Floor Ellison 9 Room 916 55 Fruit Street Boston, MA 02114 Thank you so much to everyone who has reached out, called, sent messages or visited. Aaron appreciates every single one of you very much; it is what is keeping him going! Previous Information from December 5, 2024: Aaron was unexpectedly life-flighted from A.R. Gould Hospital to Massachusetts General Hospital on December 5, 2024. Some of Aaron's blood tests were dangerously critical that day, so his Heart Failure Team had him come directly to Mass General Hospital in Boston ASAP. Aaron will have an Impella Heart Pump hooked up to his heart next week, and will be moved to a Status 2 on the Heart Transplant List at that time, which is a critical level. We all pray he will receive his heart transplant gift very soon after this. Please keep Aaron in your daily prayers, and help in any way you can during Aaron's difficult journey to his heart transplant. The family appreciates anything you can do to help. Previous Information from July 2024: Aaron was at Massachusetts General Hospital from June 3rd to July 12, 2024. The Heart Failure and Transplant Team placed him on the heart transplant list in October. Aaron will not survive without a new heart. He will be admitted in January 2024 to Mass General Hospital ICU while he awaits a new heart. Heart transplant recipients are required to live in close proximity to the hospital for at least a month after surgery. Aaron has helped friends, neighbors and family over the years. He would give the shirt off his back, and has been there for many when they needed a helping hand. Moving to Boston temporarily will be very expensive; please help in any way you can. We pray for Aaron to get his new heart and have many more years to live and enjoy his daughters and grandchildren. ❤️
