On Friday, July 7th my nephew, Andrew Patrick, started having numbness in his left hand and weakness in his arm while touring in Iowa. He was only able play at 50%. When he got home on Sunday, July 9th he went to the emergency room where they did a CT scan and MRI. He was then informed that they found fluid on his brain, which could potentially be the reason for the numbness. He was transferred by ambulance to Memorial Hermann in Houston due to his hometown not having neuro care. Hermann did another MRI and determined the fluid was not causing the numbness. They also ruled out a stroke but found a small pineal cyst on the brain. He was released and given instructions to start physical therapy. Not even 24 hrs later he was headed back to Houston due to his left arm swelling, the numbness moving into more of his fingers and his blood pressure had gone up excessively. Pat is scheduled for an EMG (nerve conduction study) on Wed - hoping for results on Thursday in Houston. Surgery has been mentioned but not confirmed. He has been told to do nothing with his arm until they know the extent of the issues. As a professional musician he doesn’t have any insurance. Expenses are already racking up. Family and friends have been helping with some of the burden and he’s so grateful. As of now his medical bills are near $200,000. With monthly expenses and travel to Houston (gas, meals and a place to stay) the burden is already heavy. Prayers and support would be greatly appreciated.
