I will be sharing some in depth details that may be uncomfortable, but because of the seriousness of this, it can’t be sugar coated. As a family, we are usually not ones to ask for help, especially financial help, but we have been blessed with a special young woman who entered our lives several months ago and is an incredible human being and fantastic mother. Ana started not feeling well with the common symptoms of the flu: vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, body aches, etc.. After a couple visits to the doctor with no change from their diagnosis and suggested treatment, she was taken to the ER with rectal bleeding, extreme stomach pains and severe dehydration on July 22nd. Admitted to the hospital this time, and after a couples days of constant monitoring and extensive labs, she was diagnosed with E. Coli, which then turned into a very rare disease called HUS (Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome). This develops usually in small children and approximately 200-300 cases yearly are reported in the United States. It affects the kidneys and blood clotting functions. HUS causes destruction of the red blood cells and can cause kidney failure. This last Wednesday, July 26th, she was taken from Twin Falls to Boise where available blood and kidney specialists had to step in and assist with this rare condition. Since arriving, she has received 3 blood transfusions as her blood numbers continue to drop, and she was informed that if her kidney numbers do not begin to stabilize within the next couple weeks, there is a chance of having to begin dialysis. The complications of HUS have caused many other issues, including 2 other rare diseases, making it extremely difficult for her body to fight everything all at once. As she attempts to make a full recovery, there could be lasting and lifelong complications, such as high blood pressure, higher risk of stroke, dialysis and in few cases where there is extensive kidney damage, a kidney transplant would be a possibility. While she does have insurance, we all know it doesn’t cover 100%, and already having been off work for almost 3 weeks with no absolute discharge date in sight, not only are medical bills accumulating, but personal bills and responsibilities have become a huge stress to her. She is the mother of 2 small children, has a mortgage and other household expenses with minimal/no income coming in at this time. Any amount donated to assist her is greatly appreciated to help ease the stress of this unexpected situation she is having to deal with at this time. If you can’t or don’t want to donate, please at least share. Thank you so much!♥️
